SS24 Graphic Guide: Desert Brush

We began development of our SS24 collection during the spring of 2023.  At the time, one of the other projects we were working on was stage wardrobe for Kenny Beats' Coachella performance.  We developed a new print pattern for him using elements found in the Coachella Valley in CA.

All elements of this new camo print were found near the festival grounds, photographed & collaged into a print pattern.

You can read the article on Kenny's wardrobe by clicking either of the images here.

After spending several weekends in the desert that spring, the print pattern was revisited to see if it could be worked into something new.  The camo developed for Kenny is darker & more of a classic "real tree" feeling.  I started playing with the elements again & developed what we're calling the Desert Brush print.  A light, airy & more colourful counterpart to the camo developed for Kenny.

One of my favourite elements from the print, the Desert Marigold, was also taken & reformatted into an embroidery file.  This was used on the Nylon Bomber Jacket & Cargo Pant series from the SS24 collection.

The Desert Marigold Nylon Bomber Jacket & Cargo Pant are available in a beige & orange nylon.  Both embroidered with the Desert Marigold in a dark tan thread.

To complete the airy feeling of the Desert Brush print, it was printed on a lightweight mesh.  The printed mesh was used to construct the Cargo Short Sleeve Button Down Shirt, a unisex button down from this season.

The mesh was also used to line the Desert Marigold Bomber Jackets.  The product page for the jackets notes - "while the jacket isn’t technically reversible, I made sure to shoot it inside out to show the mesh lining as it is my favourite detail of the jacket."

Finally, a flattened two colour version of the Desert Brush print is found on the Ripstop Hooded Jacket & Cargo Short.
