Juliet Johnstone RCI Chore Coat

For SS21 we worked with a close friend of the brand, artist Juliet Johnstone on a few runway pieces.  Johnstone specializes in unique hand painted pants available via her website.  As this was her first time working on outerwear, we agreed the chore coat as the best blank canvas to use.  One of the main reasons the chore coat is a staple product for us is because of the many ways it can be interpreted.  We offer this item as our standard RCI-DIY kit for the same reason.

Johnstone hand painted and hand dyed each piece.  We agreed the elements feel better coming out of seams instead of painting on a finished jacket, so painting was done before sewing on the cut panels.  The photos below are from an afternoon at her studio as she was working on them.

Originally debuted in the SS21 runway show as a one-off, we have produced a small run of the chore coat, limited to 2 units per size.  Items will differ slightly due to the nature of the project.  Alongside this piece, there is a women's printed t-shirt with a collage made of the elements originally painted for the chore coat.

Releasing March 21st at 9AM PST.

The hand painted items originally produced by Johnstone for the SS21 runway show & collection titled, "River Runs Through."
