AW21 Show Location
In 2020, California experienced a record setting wildfire season burning nearly 4.2 million acres. Many of these fires hit close to home. Near Los Angeles, we saw the Bobcat Fire destroy over 111,000 acres in the San Gabriel Mountains in and around the Angeles National Forest threatening the legendary Mt. Wilson Observatory, the incredible location of our AW21 show.

At RCI we love and respect the outdoors. We have been working with the US Forest Service to learn more about how we can help protect and restore our forests and their inhabitants, visitors and landmarks. We’ll share more about our partnership throughout 2021.

The photos above were taken by the Observatory team on September 15/16 as the Bobcat fire raged within 500 feet. We chose this location for the AW21 show because to us Mt. Wilson represents hope. An incredible place with so much historic value, saved by Wildland Firefighters. We are so grateful for the opportunity to use the Mt. Wilson Observatory and to work with the US Forest Service to help bring attention and awareness to the impact of the wildfires in California. Combating climate change, managing our forests and enjoying nature responsibly are things we can all do globally to protect and save our own backyards.
